On-Site Tracking

Install Quotient's tracking tag to see what people do after your marketing brings them to your website

One of the key goals of digital marketing is to bring people to your website and, once they're there, get them to look around, sign up for newsletters and webinars, and ideally become paying customers.

To measure how well your marketing drives these outcomes, Quotient needs to see what happens on your website and link that activity back to your marketing content. That's what the JavaScript tracking tag is for.

The tracking tag does four things:

  • Automatically tracks page views and sessions for everyone who visits your website
  • Attributes those page views and sessions to your marketing using URL tagging
  • Detects and saves each visitor's identity where possible (see Identifying Users)
  • With some extra setup, tracks additional custom events and conversions

Install the Tracking Tag

Every installation needs a public API key from Settings → Developers with the Analytics: write permission. Then follow the guide for your website:

If your site is built on a platform that isn't listed here, follow the custom website guide. Any site that lets you add a script to every page can run the tracking tag.
